Global Positioning Systems and Geocaching

The new sport of geocaching is an entertaining adventure, a technology enhanced scavenger hunt for GPS (Global Positioning System) users. Hunting for a geocache (usually a hidden weatherproof container holding a log-book and perhaps a fun prize) is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of GPS units.

Geocaches have set up all over the world and the coordinates for cache locations are shared on internet sites such as www.geocaching.com. GPS users then use the coordinates to find the hidden caches. There are over 500 geocaches within 20 miles of the center of Fulton County. Today, many any visitors find their way to Dickson Mounds Museum using GPS.
